THERMAL BEHAVIOUR OF CuS NANOTUBES OBTAINED FROM

muhammad nafees

Abstract

CuS nanotubes were synthesized in a simple aqueous system under microwave irradiation, employing Cu(CH3COO)2.H2O as copper source and Na2S2O3.5H2O, as sulfur source. The starting materials were used without assistance of any surfactant or template. An X-ray powder diffraction pattern proved that the product is hexagonal CuS phase. The morphologies of the product were observed by scanning electron microscopy.  Thermal behavior and different solid state transformation in CuS with respect to temperature were studied by DSC/TGA. Reaction time, microwave power and starting ratio of reactant affect the morphologies of the product were also discussed.
